Mr Jones (he/his) is a Registered Social Worker, trained to Masters level with over four decades of clinical experience in the mental health field both in Cayman and Canada with the last thirteen as a Neurofeedback Clinician. He has decades of supervised clinical experience in addiction counselling and has worked in both government, private, community mental health and the National Defense Department.
Mr Jones’s background in systemic training and child therapy has afforded him a rich understanding of child development, attachment, and the appreciation of how one’s upbringing impacts on one's internal world and brain development. In particular, the impact of developmental trauma and the cluster of symptomologies associated with the biological stress symptoms, brain structure and function. He is respectful of the sequential development of the brain and tailors his treatment plan to the client’s needs through a detailed examination of their symptoms, including its functionality and severity of impairment in the client’s life.
With his three decades of experience working with substance abuse/misuse and addiction, Mr Jones understands the impact of trauma on one’s reward system and regulatory state, and the association of addiction and its related mental health disorders with trauma. It is this experience that led to his specialism in the treatment of complex trauma, toxic stress, and relational rupture through the use of Neurofeedback.
Mr Jones pioneered Neurofeedback in Grand Cayman and is trained in Neuro-Optimal, Nexus QEEG and Infra Low Frequency Othmer Method. He now uses the Othmer method exclusively, based on its unparalleled efficacy in the field. The Othmer Method is a systematic, sequential, hierarchical approach to a non-prescriptive strategy for the recovery and enhancement of functional competence. It changes the client’s whole state resulting in both mind and body relief from the effects of developmental trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Mr Jones specializes in the treatment of trauma and focuses on the impact of stress/trauma on one’s entire system, in particular, how dysregulation causes problems ranging from sleep difficulties, pain, physical and physiological problems, emotional and behavioural issues and cognitive impairment. The reason that he has chosen and continues to use the Othmer Method, or ILF (Infra Low Frequency) is because it uniquely regulates the brain and nervous system as a whole. It resets the brain to its original state, one without excessive fear or anxiety.
In addition to the treatment of trauma, Mr Jones is also proficient in the utility of ILF in the following presentations:
Mr Jones is a lifetime devoted therapist and values a collaborative approach with his clients, his empathic and client-centered style is aimed at placing the client in the driver’s seat for their own healing and growth. He is also trained and proficient in multiple treatment modalities, and likes to integrate them into his treatment plan:
