Dr. Larissa Johnson, ForenPsyD, CPsychol, RAPPS, is a dedicated and highly experienced psychologist, holding registrations as a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a Forensic Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). With additional certifications as a Clinical Certified Trauma Professional, EMDR Therapist, and Level 1 Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher, Dr. Johnson is committed to providing a compassionate and supportive space for individuals to navigate their personal challenges and facilitate transformative change.
Throughout her career, Dr. Johnson has worked extensively with individuals facing a variety of difficulties, including traumatic histories, self-criticism, offending behaviours, personality challenges, intense stress, and managing painful and confusing emotions. She deeply understands the impact these struggles can have on one's overall well-being and is dedicated to offering a safe and empathetic environment where clients can find strength and resilience.
With a diverse range of professional experiences, Dr. Johnson has made significant contributions to various organisations. She currently focuses on the provision of psychotherapeutic services, trauma therapy, and mindfulness-based stress reduction courses. Her expertise extends to forensic psychological services, working closely with courts, police, secure hospitals, and prisons. Dr. Johnson has also played an instrumental role in implementing trauma-informed procedures and delivering therapeutic programming within correctional settings and corporate organisations.
Dr. Johnson has a particular passion for trauma-informed care and compassion-focused therapy. She recognises the profound impact of trauma and places great importance on creating a safe space for service users to explore their experiences, gain insights, and develop practical strategies for recovery.
Dr. Johnson obtained her Honours Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Toronto, followed by a first-class honours Master of Science Degree in Forensic Psychology from the University of Kent, and a Practice Doctorate in Forensic Psychology from the University of Birmingham. She also received a MSc with distinction in Business and Organizational Psychology from Coventry University.
